Roisin Murphy

If you are tired of Britney Spear's new "album" and want a solid female singer songwriter who is absolutely amazing, check out Roisin Murphy. She is a British electronica artist formerly with the group: Moloko. She has two albums: 2005's Ruby Blue and 2007's Overpowered. Unfortunately Overpowered has not been released across the pond in the good old United States of America. Dear Miami is by far my favorite track off Overpowered and the video is good too. Her best video is for Overpowered which also happens to be an excellent song. Roisin grew up in Ireland and developed her unique fashion sense at an early age. Of course Roisin's unbelievably attractive countenance helps her pull off her unique style. If you are looking for a pop sensation that sounds like something in the top 40 then you will be sorely disappointed. Roisin is much more laid back with slower beats and a definite club feel. Keep in mind that she is from Europe and European clubs are very different than American clubs. Another thing to keep in mind is that a lot of her songs are more like trance than traditional club pop. She is the perfect mix of deeper trance selections and more mainstream dance/electronica.
